Despite his normally calm appearance, Sonic loves fighting strong opponents as shown by when he gets a "child-like smile" on his face when he first meets Saitama and has two of his attacks blocked, earlier calling this his "bad habit." He seems to be very quick to act as he attacks Saitama on their first meeting without letting him explain the situation.
He is persistent, even when he realizes that the opponent is much stronger than he is. When Sonic recognizes an opponent as his rival, he does whatever he can to initiate the battle, such as causing massive property damage and endangering the surrounding citizens in order to get Saitama to fight him. He also seems to have no qualms with killing as shown when he kills Hammerhead's gang and even goes as far as to take pride in the fact that he never lets a single person live, although it is currently unknown if he has killed innocent lives or has no problem with killing civilians.
He seems to be rather disdainful of heroes. When he meets Genos, he tells him that heroes can neither win against a truly strong opponent nor can they truly protect anything.
Despite the way he presents himself, he seems to actually have a soft side. This side is seen when he is training to fight against Saitama. During this period, he spent a great deal of time with Frank, a hunter who had almost been killed by a bear and confides with him his inner turmoil. While he is training, he finds and befriends a little piglet as well, naming it Ino, thus showing his more noble side. When he leaves to search for Saitama, he gives his words of wisdom to Frank, saying that if he is too confident in his fighting style and loses, the result will always be the same. It is unclear as to how far this side of him goes to, as he was willing to warn Genos of the Deep Sea King, yet fought him when Genos interfered with his battle with Saitama.
Due to constantly losing to Saitama, Sonic is shown willing to do anything, even trading his own humanity, to defeat him by becoming a monster through the consumption of a Monster Cell provided by Gale Wind and Hellfire Flame, although he feels that becoming a monster is equal to dying, since he will be no longer human. At the same time, he is also shown to have some class as he cooks the Monster Cell properly before consumption since he cannot stand raw food.
However, Sonic also respects Saitama for fighting monsters and even promised to himself to never fight Saitama while the hero is fighting monsters. He holds a very negative view towards the Hero Association and some S-class heroes after observing how they treat a powerful hero like Saitama like a low-ranked and worthless hero because of his looks. Ironically, he is also rather judgmental as he assumes Tatsumaki exploits her childish cuteness and that those with benign appearances are weaker than himself, displayed in his fight against Saitama and Kamikaze.
Sonic is ranked 3rd in the character popularity poll.Sonic's prisoner number was 4188.ONE has said that Sonic with a weapon would have defeated the Deep Sea King pre-rain form.ONE stated a fight between him and Genos would end in a draw.As proof of this statement, when Genos and Sonic fight it ends in a draw, although technically Saitama intervened in this battle, preventing it from being settled.Sonic buys his weapons from a weapon shop.Sonic's black lines under his eyes are a reference to an American football player and are inspired by Eyeshield 21, another manga by Yusuke Murata.Murata revealed during a stream that Sonic and Flashy Flash are "somewhat" related. Chapters 78 and 95 later confirmed this directly, revealing that the two were from the Ninja Village's 44th graduation class, "The End."

hello.. i am making this lovemail because i am a very filthy.. dirty... little... whore for speed o' sound sonic from one-punch man. yea you heard me this man is my bottom and i love him so fucking much hngnghnf. when i first got into opm when i was like idk 13 or something sonic's stupidity made me laugh. i was like "HA this man things he is so fucking sexy" and guess what he was right. of course as a 13 year old i was an anime only bitch so i only got to see a little bit of sonic's character which was very funny to me.
sonic is introduced as a body guard and when you first see him youre like yummy sexy ninja time but then he meets saitama and you immediately retract your words when his "bad habit" of smiling like a fucking creeper shows. anyways yea saitama punches sonic in he balls and from that moment forward sonic proclaims himself as saitama's rival and makes it his life goal to beat saitama in the battle because sonic is oh so great and powerful.
but here is the thing. HE IS RIGHT!!! sonic is so powerful and amazing and wonderful i love him he is so strong... you just can't beat saitama no one can beat saitama its like scientifically proven that saitama will never lose. but yea back to sonic... this dude sees saitama out and about and decides to attack im in right in the middle of the city obviously sonic loses but then the idiot goes and gets himself thrown in jail!!! he escapes when puri-puri prisoner does so he wasn't even there for long but while basically on the run sonic meets the deep-sea king and they fight!! sonic has to escape because when it starts to rain deep-sea king gets a power up and is now super strong but if he hadn't gotten that super epic power up sonic would have been able to destroy his ass. while escaping sonic is butt fucking naked... yummy ninja
oh yea.. we are having sex....
anyways after deep-sea king sonic is not seen much in the anime as it starts to focus more on the s-class heros so the day i decided to start reading the manga was when my brain cells reached their peak in power. though i did start reading it telling myself "you will not like sonic. he will not be your favorite" and now here we are months later and mr.speed o' sound sonic is a huge comfort character for me.
i think reading the manga was a bug eyeopener for me. yea in the anime you see enough of sonic to understand that he is a pretty chill dude but he gets power hungry and he is kind of mean... that also shows a lot more in the manga but imagine it times 10. later in the manga during the current arc (monster association) we start getting multiple hints about sonic's past. especially when we meet gale wind and hellfire flame. the two being ninjas from sonic's village. during sonic's interaction with them we learn that sonic was apart of the ninja village's 44th graduation class "the end" it has been assumed that flashy flash, an s-class hero who was apart of the 44th class, was the cause of "the end" and sonic was the only survivor. gale wind and hellfire flame then offer sonic a monster cell to turn himself into a monster so he can defeat flashy flash.
sonic decides he is going to eat the monster cell and give up his humanity so he can defeat saitama... however sonic being sonic fucks it up. he decides to cook the monster cell because it looks like a dirty meat ball and because he cooked it and ate it... he well got diarrhea. after shitting out his eternal organs sonic feels lighter and assumes his "monsterfication" has begun however he just lost weight cause he uhm.. he shitted too hard.
anyways the point of the matter here is that the entire time sonic was eating the monster cell i was crying because i was worried he really was gonna turn into a monster BUT HIS STUPID ASS JUST GAVE HIMSELF A BAD CASE OF THE RUNS AND I CRIED FOR NO REASON. i really love him so much he makes me so happy and his character is so freaking dynamic and there are so many sides to sonic... it astonishes me how powerful he is but because saitama is his "rival" his power is always overshadowed.
the whole monster cell, gale wind + hellfire flame, kill flashy flash shit is also making me sooo nervous for a possible sonic backstory because i know i will cry my eyes out no matter what happens. now listen opm has a lot of characters and it is obviously hard to give them all a fair share of "screen time" so any character who has gotten a backstory had either a brief flashback consisting of a few panels or a couple pages or a simple explanation of what had happened. so i am not really expecting much for sonic's backstory but at the same time i am also expecting the whole entire world. as well as sonic's backstory i am also predicting that sometime during this arc there will be a sonic vs. flashy flash fight and i am also extremely terrified for that. I have made my predictions for what i think their relationship was like and i actually do think it is pretty logical so allow me to explain!
so when sonic finds out that the three of them are all from the same village he is very surprised. however when gale wind starts to talk about flashy flash sonic has a very downcast look... he does not seem to be angry though. this leads me to believe that any past sonic and flash had together was not always bad. in fact i believe that they were acquaintances or perhaps even friends but definitely classmates. now because it has been implied that flash was the cause of the downfall of the village and basically killed everyone except sonic it is obvious there is some //possible// bad blood between the two now,,, though sonic does not seem to hold any type of grudge over flashy flash.
so if there is in fact going to be a sonic vs. flash battle that would insinuate the sonic backstory which is going to make me cry my eyes out. i really am not ready because i also very much enjoy flash's character and this whole backstory thing means there is a large chance for sad little sonic and I AM SURE AS HELL NOT PREPARED
moving on from backstory talk... i need to talk about something extremely important.. and that extremely important thing would be the ova The Ninja Who is Too Complicated.. or more specifically sonic time episode.
in this ova we are introduced to two characters who shed more light on the complex personality of speed o sound sonic. those two characters being frank, a hunter sonic meets and ino, a baby boar sonic saves. despite being very minor characters i think the both of them are very important when it comes to understanding sonic.
sonic is training so he can be able to beat saitama. while training sonic meets frank and decides to confide in him. we find out sonic is afraid of saitama and frank tells him a story about a bear that he confronted in the mountains years ago. he then shows sonic the scar that it gave him and tells sonic that he must hunt it down and kill it just as sonic must defeat saitama. as for ino (the cutest little guy in the whole world) sonic found him while he was being attacked by a snake. sonic killed the snake thinking that it would be a good training dummy and saving ino in the process. he takes ino with him and names him well ino. the two then begin training together and ino gives sonic some company while he is trying to get over his fear of saitama. after completing his training sonic leaves ino in the care of frank.
i think this ova is very important to me because it shows us all another side to sonic. instead of only seeing him as a narcissistic hypocritical stinky man we get to see that he has some insecurities and works hard to get rid of these insecurities.. this ova makes me so happy and it really makes me love sonic 10 million times more.
okay so i am not going to get into sonic's relationships with other characters because he doesn't really have any as he is often alone. his interactions with other characters are typically short or involve sonic fighting with them. however i do find his relationship with saitama to be very important especially with sonic's character development!!!
as I started earlier in The Ninja Who is Too Complicated we find out that sonic is actually afraid of saitama. i find this to be very interesting but also very believable as saitama is one of the only people sonic has been unable to be. obviously sonic has some time of inferiority complex when it comes to saitama because he is shown to literally do anything in order to beat saitama... even give up his humanity and eat a monster cell. HOWEVER that is besides the point!!!! in The Ninja Who is Too Complicated we also see sonic push himself to overcome this fear and succeed. sonic respects saitama as a powerful opponent and defeating him has become his most important goal.. though it is to the point that i worry this goal of his will consume him.
considering sonic was literally going to turn himself into a monster just to try and give himself the chance to beat saitama im terrified for what other lengths he is willing to go to but i am also hoping that his rivalry against saitama will give him some room to grow and maybe have some major character development,,, i really want that for him T___T i love sonic and seeing him get so beat up about being unable to beat saitama in a battle makes me super duper sad. though it doesnt really surprise me all that much since saitama has yet to lose a single battle in the history of one-punch man and any development that sonic might get wont be until later in the manga since the monster association arc is mainly focused on garou and s-class heros
